My first online jewelry shopping experience

Posted by jewelryguru

It’s just few hours left in Valentine’s Day and I’m ready with my surprise gift. I’m quite excited about the present because this time I haven’t purchased any of the usual things. My exclusive surprise for my sweetheart is a simple yet unique heart tanzanite and diamond dangling pendant. She is a big jewelry lover and I never miss a chance to pamper her with different types of jewelry.

Heart Tanzanite and Diamond Dangling PendantBut this time I was a bit busy with piles of work and did not get the time to go out for buying a present. And as Valentine’s Day is not like any other ordinary day so I decided to go online for my shopping. I was not much clear about my choice but yes, I was pretty sure that my gift for her should have some extra sparkle with exotic beauty. And after some efforts I found the piece of my choice!

As I do shop online so was quite familiar with the general terms and conditions but it was my first chance of buying jewelry online. So just to be assured about the safety of my investment I did a good research.

While buying gemstone jewelry from any online retailer it’s important to carefully read all the guidelines and conditions of shopping. As the jewelry can only be felt virtually so the information provided with the product helps a lot. In the case of diamonds it’s good to know about the cut, clarity, color and carat of diamond as they are the value define features of diamond.

When shopping any colored stone the color is the most important attribute followed by clarity. I selected the pendant with AAA grade gemstone quality. During the live chat I asked about the stone quality and the store representative cleared that AAA is the highest quality with intense color and flawless clarity. In case of diamonds it is the natural H color with SI2 clarity and high brilliance.

I was also given the option of customizing my product by choosing the metal and stone quality. It was a wonderful experience for me. And along with the shopping I have learned many new facts about gemstone and diamond jewelry.

4Cs of natural color diamonds

Posted by jewelryguru

Natural color diamonds are the hardest gemstones with 10 on moh’s scale. They are rare, exclusive and found in every color of visible spectrum. So what makes them so unique and one of a kind?

The answer lies in the 4Cs classification of diamond. For a diamond 4Cs stands for color, cut, carat and clarity.

Color:

Color is the most important factor for fancy diamond. Generally diamonds are rated on the scale of light to deep color including fancy light, fancy, intense and deep color. Pink, blue, green, yellow, orange and red are the most sought after colors in fancy diamonds. These diamonds receive their color due to the presence of trace elements, radiation and slight or heavy inclusions.

Diamond Color

Clarity:

The clarity of colorless diamonds is determined on the basis of inclusions and blemishes. The highest quality diamond is completely flawless. But when we talk about color diamonds certain impurities are tolerable unless they are not interfering with the color. In fact sometimes these inclusions play an important role in determining the color.

Cut:

Diamond cut is to polish the stone in a certain way that maximum facets would be reveled at the same time. The cut of a diamond enhance its brilliance and magnifies its color intensity. The aim of cutting a diamond is to allow the maximum reflection of light. An ideal, premium, fine or good cut with maximum brilliance values the most.

Carat:

Weight of the fancy diamonds is one more factor that determines their value. But color being the most highlighted feature demands to be enhanced maximum so the carat of these diamonds can be sacrificed. The purpose of cutting a fancy diamond is to strengthen the intensity of color. In doing so, much of the weight is sacrificed to satisfy the beauty of natural color.

If you are thinking of buying color diamond jewelry make sure that each diamond will ensure these 4Cs of fancy diamonds.

Kim Kardashian or Elizabeth Taylor – Who has superior jewels

Posted by Rajesh

Recently Elizabeth’s jewelry collection was up for auction at Christie’s NYC and Kim Kardashian was among the lucky buyers. She bought Liz’s three jade and diamond bangle bracelets for $65,000. It showed that she is very passionate about jewelry and even more passionate about Elizabeth Taylor’s legendary jewelry.

Though Kim’s collection is nowhere near the size and value of Liz’s, still it is by far quite unique and expensive. Let’s have a look at some of the similarities of both the divas:

Elegantly Emerald!

Though diamonds are forever yet emeralds have their distinct position in every celebrity vault. Whether it’s Angelina Jolie with her drop earrings in 2009 Academy Awards or Kyle Richards with her signature green jewels, emeralds add an insanely gorgeous appeal to everyone’s style. But before all of them it was the Cleopatra actress who rocked tinsel town with her green looks. She had an enviously beautiful collection of emerald jewels. Her necklace of sixteen rectangular and square-cut emeralds, each surrounded with diamonds was one of her favorites. She received this glamorous gift by her hubby Richard Burton.

Kim’s glitzy emerald necklace which she wore at the 2010 Angel Ball in New York City was the symbol of her admiration of her idol. Her necklace features interlocking loops of diamonds with emeralds suspended at every interval. It’s a bold style that she carried with élan but is that really like Liz’s emerald and diamond necklace?

Tiara for Princess

Tiara is made for a true princess especially for her special day. Kim was also wearing a diamond tiara on her wedding with Kris. Though she filed divorce with him still a tiara is a tiara especially when it costs more than half of the total wedding jewelry value. Quite amazing!

Kim vs Elizabeth Diamond Tiara

But Elizabeth never wanted a special occasion like wedding to wear a tiara. She was the princess of her husband’s heart and received a unique diamond tiara from Mike Todd which she wore on 1957 Academy Awards for the first time. She wrote about this, "When he [Mike Todd] gave me this tiara, he said, 'You're my queen, and I think you should have a tiara.' I wore it for the first time when we went to the Academy Awards. It was the most perfect night, because Mike's film Around the World in 80 Days won for Best Picture. It wasn't fashionable to wear tiaras then, but I wore it anyway, because he was my king.”

An Engagement (Giant) Ring

An engagement ring for a queen of hearts can’t be a simply one. That’s why Kris Humphries bought a stunningly bold rock of 20.5 carat for his sweetheart Kim. The $2 million ring is Kim’s favorite, may be because it resembles like her idol’s engagement ring.

But it is pale in front of Elizabeth’s $3.5 million 33.19 carats Krupp diamond ring. The gemstone was given to Elizabeth by Richard Burton and is one of the world’s few flawless gems. It was even a discussion topic between Kim and Liz during the interview. “The Krupp is an extraordinary stone,” Elizabeth told Kim. “It has such life and brilliance when light shines through it. Size does matter, but so does the size of the emotion behind it.”

Diamonds and Diamonds!

Kim vs Elizabeth Diamond Earrings

Every girl has fantasy for diamonds. And talking about Kim and Liz, both have plenty of them. Here we are talking about Elizabeth’s Diamond Chandeliers and Kim’s dangly drop earrings that she wore on her birthday. Kim’s diamond earrings were really stunning but they can’t compete with Elizabeth’s antique chandeliers which Mike gave her.

Actually Liz bought them for herself from Paris and that time they were made of glass. Only until her husband got his hands on them. She wrote, “I was getting ready for a party and went to put them on.” “I opened the box, and the earrings looked all polished up. I put them on. There was something different about how they fit. I said, 'Mike, there's something wrong with my earrings.' He chuckled and said he'd had them made up with real diamonds!" Gosh these husbands, you can’t live with them and can’t live without them.

Undoubtedly Elizabeth Taylor has the most valued collection of jewels in Hollywood. What do you think?

Now an Asscher cut diamond ring is truly romantic! But it seemed that things were not pretty well between the two. Soon after postponing their January wedding, they called off their engagement. The resources said that Karina wanted to concentrate on practicing for DWTS and she was finding it difficult to plan her wedding perfectly.

Well that is completely their personal affair but of course a jaw-dropping Asscher cut diamond engagement ring is a matter of consideration. The center stone diamond in the ring is set on channel set princess cut diamond studded platinum band and costs approximately $95,000. The ring is truly admiring.

The question now is what would Karina do with the ring?

One of the very popular styles in necklaces is this Diamonds by the Yard. It is a design that was made popular by New York based jewelers, Tiffany. It is much loved and adored for its sophistication and simplicity.

This stunning jewelry was designed by renowned Italian jewelry designer Elsa Peretti who first joined Tiffany in 1974.

A standard diamonds by the yard necklace measures 36 inches in length. It features bezel set gemstones that are set at regular distance from each other. Also these diamonds by the yard necklace very beautifully highlight your neckline.

Even though a classic necklace was one with diamonds, these days these necklaces are even made with other gemstones such as ruby, emeralds, aquamarines, blue sapphires, pink sapphires.
